I’ve been a movie lover for as long as I can remember. My father loved movies (especially horror films!) and he passed his deep affection for them on to me. When I was just a kid my dad and I spent many weekends watching movies together on our old television and every Saturday night my dad would take my mom and I to the local drive-in to see a double feature.

I grew up on a steady diet of Horror films, James Bond, spaghetti westerns, American musicals and Japanese monster movies. As I got older my interest in cinema expanded into areas like Italian Neorealism and the French, British & Japanese New Wave. I’ve always had a special fondness for '60s and '70s era films so that’s what I focus on here at Cinebeats.

When I started attending college in the late '80s I concentrated on film studies, but due to various circumstances I left college before graduating and started working full-time. Since then I’ve occasionally dabbled in freelance writing for small press magazines and zines like Propaganda, Comic Culture, Morbid Outlook and Fashion Doll Quarterly while spending my free time taking photos, making art, reading books and watching lots of movies.

Blogging is a sort of hobby for me and it offers me the opportunity to share my life-long interest in cinema with others. I don’t often waste time writing about movies I dislike even though there are plenty. There are not enough hours in the day for me to write about the movies I like so I prefer to spend my free time writing about little known gems, as well as actors and directors who I respect in an effort to expand their audiences.

I created Cibebeats.com because I like writing about the movies I watch and I enjoy sharing my passion for cinema with others. If you would like me to review a DVD, book or CD release please feel free to send me an email. I focus on '60s and '70s era films here at Cinebeats.com so please consider this when contacting me.

Recently I wrote the liner notes for Harkit Records CD release of John Barry's soundtrack for the film Boom! (1968) and contributed program notes on John Boorman's film Point Blank (1967) for The 2008 Woodstock Film Festival program. My blog is updated sporadically since I'm currently working part time and attending college again.

Thanks for visiting Cinebeats and I hope you’ll enjoy my random musings about the movies I love and the people who make them!
